Drake Speaks Out About Muzik Nightclub Shooting

Drake has spoken out about the deadly Muzik nightclub shooting, saying he has "been in a moral bind."

On Aug. 4, two attendees at an after-party for Drake's OVO Fest were shot dead in Toronto. While police had recently reached out to Drake and the OVO label for assistance in the ongoing investigation, the artist maintained his silence until now.

The Canadian singer and rapper explained in a statement posted on his blog Friday that he was advised to remain silent by "trusted advisors and counsel" who worried his words could be misinterpreted.

"However, today I am choosing to follow my heart," he said. "I am plagued and pained by the violence that continues to escalate in our city."

Drake extended condolences to the families of the victims Ariela Navarro-Fenoy and Duvel Hibbert.

"My deepest condolences go out to the Navarro-Fenoy and Hibbert families for their loss of Ariela and Duvel. Along with them I send my condolences to all of the families that have lost loved ones to the senseless violence that has and continues to occur in our city," he wrote.
