MTV VMAs 2015: Miley Cyrus Hosts An Epic Show, But Kanye West, Taylor Swift And Justin Bieber Steal The Spotlight

Miley Cyrus had a message for all MTV Video Music Awards viewers, and it's best summed up by her "everybody say marijuana" selfie.

"Ellen, you ain't got nothing on this!" said Cyrus, taunting Ellen DeGeneres who broke the Internet in 2014 with her epic Oscar selfie.

With 10 wacky costume changes, an accidental free the nipple PSA, a ton of un-bleeped cursing, a free album and plenty of shade, Cyrus held court as the host of the VMAs a year after she won the night's top prize for her "Wrecking Ball" video.

While the 22-year-old brought the shock value in the form of pre-recorded cameos with Andy Samberg, Ike Barinholtz, Snoop Dogg and more, her antics were usurped by the night's stellar performances and Kanye West's unexpected upcoming presidential candidacy.

Ultimately, the night belonged to Taylor Swift The Peacemaker. Not only did the "Bad Blood" singer win Video of the Year for her revenge anthem, but she also found time to make up with one-time frenemy Nicki Minaj, and present the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to Kanye West.

Six years ago, West famously interrupted Swift's VMA acceptance speech, insisting that Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video was among the best of all time.

"I first met Kanye West at this show actually," said Swift, making light of their first encounter.

She later mocked his notorious 2009 rant, saying "I'm really happy for you, but Kanye West has had one of the greatest careers of all time."

Two Canadians also made a notable impression on the VMA audience. The Weeknd's rendition of "Can't Feel My Face" was electric enough to get West out of his seat and dancing, but it was Justin Bieber's surprisingly emotional performance of his new single "What Do You Mean?" that elicited the loudest cheers from the crowd.
