Abbotsford Bystander Killed In Shooting Targeted At Neighbour's Home

A 74-year-old man happened to be standing outside, said police.

A 74-year-old man who happened to be standing outside a home in Abbotsford, B.C. was killed in gunfire aimed at his neighbour's home, said police.

Emergency crews were called to reports of shots fired in the 3500 block of Promontory Court on Wednesday evening. They arrived to find the senior, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police found a vehicle damaged by gunfire in the neighbouring driveway, according to a news release from Const. Ian MacDonald.

"The initial indications are that he was merely standing outside the neighbouring home when a targeted shooting took place in the adjacent driveway," he said.

The investigation is being handled by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
