UPDATE: Sept. 8, 2015 — Nathaniel David Jessup, 28, has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of forcible confinement related to the two events, Vancouver police said in a news release.

A man who was arrested for allegedly trying to abduct a toddler in Vancouver's Stanley Park on Monday is believed to be the same person responsible for grabbing another eight-year-old girl in the same area last week.

On Monday, a family was in the Lost Lagoon area of the park around 2 p.m. when a man grabbed their two year old. The girl's father confronted him, who let the toddler go before he fled, according to a Vancouver police news release.

Sgt. Randy Fincham said the suspect, 28, was later arrested in the 1800 block of Alberni Street.

On Friday, an eight-year-old girl was grabbed by a man who tried to drag her away on Denman Street near the seawall, but her parents thwarted the attempt.

Police said the suspect, who has no fixed address, remains in custody pending an investigation.
