CALGARY — Police in Calgary confirm that a woman who was wounded in a shooting has died in hospital.

Officers got word late Wednesday night of gunfire near a bar on the city's busy 16th Ave. N.W., near Tipperary's Pub, where witnesses say they heard a number of shots.

Pictures posted of the scene show a white car with a shattered driver's-side window and what appear to be bullet holes in the door.

There was no immediate word on what led to the shooting.

Investigators closed a section of the avenue in both directions for several hours before it was reopened for the morning commute.

Police were also called to another nearby incident and arrested at least one person in a parkade, but it wasn't immediately clear whether that case is connected to the shooting. (CHQR, CTV Calgary)
