Chanel's Slingback Shoe Is Making A Comeback

Chanel's slingback pump is EVERYWHERE.

Gone are the days when It-bags were the must-have items of the moment -- these days, it's all about the It-shoe, particularly Chanel's slingback pump.

The "new Cinderella shoe," which is Karl Lagerfeld's reinterpretation of Coco Chanel's iconic two-tone pump, made its debut at the French fashion house's fall/winter 2015/16 ready-to-wear collection. Now, it's being worn by everyone from Alexa Chung to Lily Rose-Depp and was common among street style stars at New York Fashion Week including The Man Repeller's Leandra Medine and WSJ. Magazine's Laura Stoloff.

But the popularity of the shoe is not surprising. The two-tone leather easily allows the pump to transition from day to night (as Mademoiselle Chanel intended), and thanks to the modest block heel, they're far easier to run around in than a pair of stilettos and offer a sense of timeless chic that can't be found in a sneaker.

In celebration of the shoe's release into boutiques, Chanel has released a video on the making of the iconic footwear. Watch above to see the creation in action, and check out the gallery below for photos of the two-tone shoe then and now.
