Stella McCartney Launches 'Louise Listening Bra' For Double-Mastectomy Patients

Just in time for breast cancer awareness month.

Stella McCartney is known for her sleek, feminine fashion designs, as well as her dedication to animal rights and now, she's concentrating on another worthwhile cause.

Just in time for breast cancer awareness month, the designer has debuted a bra for post-mastectomy patients that's far more stylish and beautiful than the typical clinical-looking bra used by women post-surgery. Named after Stella's mom, Linda McCartney, who passed away from breast cancer in 1998, the "Louise Listening Bra" is blush pink with lace detailing and features the same medical compression that women need to heal post-mastectomy. It also includes a zipper at the front, which makes it easy to slip on and off post-surgery.

"We wanted to bring something feminine and beautiful into a bra that is taboo. There are so many different emotions attached to the tragic realities of having had a double mastectomy, many cultures are unaccepting and terrible things happen to women both physically and emotionally," said McCartney. "We just wanted to make something that allows women undergoing this to have something to be proud of, something with no shame attached. We wanted women to know that you can still be feminine, have your sensuality, have all of the things that are attached to being a woman and that part of your body can still feel beautiful on the outside, as well as the inside."
