The famous 'slave' costume Princess Leia wore in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, sold for $96,000 in the "Profiles of History" online auction on Friday.

The golden bikini was worn by actor Carrie Fisher in a scene at Jabba the Hutt’s palace on the desert planet of Tatooine.

Bidding for the costume opened at $80,000 , CNN reports. Although it fetched a high price, the bikini was not the most expensive item sold. A miniature model of Princess Leia's "Blockade Runner" sold for a whopping $450,000.

According to The Guardian, a letter of authenticity from designer Richard Miller, of Star Wars creator George Lucas’s special effects firm, was included with the purchase.
