Parts Of Persian Gulf May Be Too Hot For Humans By 2100: Study

If "business as usual"

Parts of the Persian Gulf could be too hot for humans to inhabit by the end of the century, according to a study released on Monday.

Jeremy Pal and Elfatih Eltahir, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers behind the study, noted that the human body can only cool itself as long as the "wet-bulb temperature", which is a combined measure of temperature and humidity, remains below 35 C. This threshold could be exceeded if countries keep a "business-as-usual" routine and continue to impact greenhouse gas concentrations, they write.

Some cities that would see big changes in weather include Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha, the capital of Qatar, according to the study.
