Sephora + Pantone Color IQ Will Find Your Perfect Foundation, Concealer And Lip Colour Match

Or nude. Or berry. Basically any lip colour imaginable.

When it comes to red lipstick, one shade does not fit all (unless it's MAC Ruby Woo, of course).

Finding the right red (or nude, or berry) lipstick for your skin tone can be tricky, especially with so many different options out there.

So what's a gal (or guy) to do?

Well, Sephora has the solution.

Back in 2012, the beauty retailer launched its Sephora + Pantone Color IQ, which takes the guesswork out of finding your perfect foundation shade by determining your official Pantone Skin Tone number. Now, Sephora is using this technology to include lip and concealer colour matching, saving us all a lot of time and money in the hunt for that perfect shade.

The system works by using a special device to take images of your forehead, cheek and neck, calibrating the three colour-sensitive photographs into one colour composite in two minutes. Once you are assigned your Color IQ number, you can then input it into an in-store Color IQ iPad app to pull up all of the foundations, lip colours and concealers that match your skin tone. (You can also input your Color IQ number on Sephora.ca for options.)

To make things even easier, you can categorize products based on texture, finish and format. For lip colours, you can also break down the options into seven different colour families such as red, nude, pink, coral or berry.

I opted for a berry hue (one of my obsessions lately), and chose Sephora Collection's Cream Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet from my list of options. The lip stain glides on easily thanks to its creamy texture, and is long-lasting and highly-pigmented.

The dark hue matched beautifully with my golden undertone, and made for the perfect fall beauty look.

The service is complimentary, so you really have no excuse not to try it out. And believe us when we say it'll seriously change your life.
