CALGARY — A six-year-old girl is in hospital after an accident at a playground at a northeast Calgary school.

Duty Insp. Michael Watterston says emergency crews arrived around 12:45 p.m. Monday at O.S. Geiger school after the girl's clothing got hung up on the jungle gym.

Watterston says the girl was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The Calgary Board of Education said a crisis team is available to support students and staff if necessary.

The board said it will conduct a review of what happened.

"This is a tragic scenario and we're hoping for the best in terms of the child recovering from any injuries that she may have sustained.''
