Homemade Meals Could Lower Risk For Diabetes

Don't worry you can still eat out, just not as often.

Research by the American Heart Association has shown that eating more home cooked meals could reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

According to the study, those who ate two homemade meals -- lunch or dinner -- per day had a 13 percent lower risk of getting the disease. Eating homemade meals was also associated with less overall weight gain in middle-aged and older health professionals.

Researchers looked at data from nearly 58,000 women in the Nurses' Health Study and from more than 41,000 men in the Health Professionals Follow-up Study.

The results of the report were presented at the Association's Scientific Sessions 2015 in Orlando, Florida.
