With the passing of Black Friday comes Cyber Monday, another chance to get great deals on tech, toys and more.

The tradition is traced back to 2005, when Shop.org, an arm of the U.S.'s National Retail Federation (NRF), issued a news release announcing that the Monday after American Thanksgiving was becoming one of the top online shopping days of the year, The Washington Post reported. In 2010, it did become the year's biggest day for shopping through the Internet. Deals have only grown since then.

For Cyber Monday 2015 in Canada, websites for chains such as Best Buy, Walmart and Staples offer big savings online and sometimes also in-store.

Some retailers got a jump on the annual shopping event. Walmart, for one, launched its Cyber Monday deals one day early, on Nov. 29 at 10 p.m. ET.
