Kim Kardashian is giving the gift of sweet kicks for Christmas to those in need.
The reality star announced she and husband Kanye West will be donating 1000 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls, a non-profit that provides footwear for people living in poverty and disaster-torn areas.
While breast-feeding newborn son Saint West and watching FOX show Dish Nation, the new mom tweeted that she was touched by the story of a teenager who was holding a shoe drive for charity.
I'm up breastfeeding & watching this show Dish Nation. I heard the cutest story of a girl who is trying to find 1000 pairs of shoes -cont-— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) December 10, 2015
to donate to this charity Soles For Souls! They helped her during Hurricane Katrina. I think I know the designer of Shoe of the Year Award!— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) December 10, 2015
“I think I know the designer of Shoe of the Year Award!” Kardashian tweeted, referencing West’s recent win for his sold-out Adidas Yeezy Boost 350.
Kardashian had little difficulty contacting the teenager, so she asked her 37.7 million followers for help.
It didn’t take long for 17-year-old Amelia Flores from Kansas to hear Kim Kardashian was looking for her.
I really hope Kim k is talking abt me— Amelia Flores (@milliemflores) December 10, 2015
Flores was inspired to hold the drive after Soles4Souls helped her extended family during Hurricane Katrina.
“I felt like this was a way to give back to them and say thank you,” Flores told The Wichita Eagle.
Flores planned to collect 2000 shoes by Dec. 18. She had reached 1000 pairs of shoes by Dec. 6, and will be hitting her goal thanks to the Kardashian-Wests. Since their contributions, Flores told ABC she’s set a new goal for 25,000 pairs of shoes by March.
In a Skype call with ABC, Flores said she’s storing all the shoes she’s collected so far in her room.
This isn’t the first time Kardashian has shown her generous side. She’s been known to throw yard sales and auctions for charity, and had donated the value of her wedding gifts to the Dream Foundation, a charity for adults with life-threatening illnesses. The reality star is currently holding an eBay auction of her wardrobe with proceeds going to Vous, a church in Miami.
