The mad dash of the Christmas season often makes one forget how laid back January and February can be.
Those months are perfect opportunities to catch up on a slew of TV shows that have their winter premieres during that time.
Television is swamped with great content right now, be it cable, specialty cable or streaming services.
You can find everything from great political dramas ("House of Cards") to cop comedies ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine") and shows about superheroes (any number of series by Marvel and DC).

Season two of the Marvel series sees secret agent Peg Carter (Hayley Atwell) trading New York for Los Angeles, where she begins to see the darkness behind Hollywood's glitz and glamour.

The DC superhero Arrow (Stephen Amell) vows to kill enemy Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) after the baddie kills a key member of his team.

This "Breaking Bad" spinoff recounts the story of Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), one of Albuquerque's shadiest lawyers, before he became Saul Goodman and took on the ultimate client in Walter White (Bryan Cranston). The show's first season had some of the best ratings in the history of cable television, Variety reported.

"The Blacklist's" midseason finale saw intelligent criminal "Red" Reddington (James Spader) kidnapped by highway robbers, leaving FBI profiler Liz Keen (Megan Boone) to make an important trade to save him.
