Miss Colombia Releases Response On Miss Universe Debacle

“After the storm comes the calm."

(Relaxnews) - Miss Universe Colombia contestant Ariadna Gutierrez Arévalo has broken her silence via her official Instagram account, following Sunday night’s embarrassing fiasco at the the 2015 Miss Universe pageant.

Gutierrez was awarded and then immediately stripped of the Miss Universe title, after host Steve Harvey mistakenly named her the winner, as a live television audience watched on.

Harvey later apologized for the controversial coronation via an error-laden tweet, but Gutierrez took matters into her own hands Tuesday when she wrote the following on her Instagram account:

“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes... Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe."

Directly following the pageant, Gutierrez shared a photo on Instagram of herself wearing the crown. She captioned the photo, "This moments (sic) will always be with me."

❤️ This moments will always be with me #missuniverse #misscolombia #backtoback Lo logramos COLOMBIA!
