Single Dad's Home Ransacked As Thieves Steal Everything, Including His Dog

A single father is devastated the day before Christmas Eve after his St. John's home was broken into and most of his possessions stolen —including Christmas gifts for his kids, prescription medications, and his pet dog.

"I'm devastated. I'm beyond devastated. Words can't even describe, just so close to Christmas," said Robert Osmond, 35.

"It just seems like one hell of a nightmare."

Osmond, a single father who is currently out of work, spent all the money he had saved on Christmas gifts for his two boys, ages three and 11.

However, when he came home around 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Osmond found a busted-in door and a deadbolt on the doorstep.

"That's all the money I had saved up from when I was working I spent on Christmas gifts and as you can see there's nothing here."

His home on Barnes Road had been broken into and everything of value was taken, including Osmond's dog.

"They took the kids' Christmas gifts, the TV, whatever wasn't bolted to the floor was gone," said Osmond.

"That's all the money I had saved up from when I was working I spent on Christmas gifts and as you can see there's nothing here."

Osmond said he was excited that he would be able to spend Christmas with them. However, all that was left on Wednesday morning was a turkey and some vegetables.

"It's the 23rd of December and my Christmas is gone. Christmas is not about me, it's about my boys," he said.

"I don't know where to even start, I don't know where to turn, I don't know what to do."

Osmond left feeling helpless

Osmond has filed a police report, but said he otherwise feels helpless.

"I do hope that whoever did it, when their kids open up my kids' Christmas gifts on Christmas Day, they have a really bad, gut-wrenching pain like I have right now," he said.

"I just hope whoever done it has guts enough to come out and bring back either my stuff or just return it, do something."
