Ricky Gervais Jokes About Caitlyn Jenner In 2016 Golden Globes Monologue

He went there.

We could have seen this coming.

Ricky Gervais apologized for any lewd or offensive comments he would make in advance of his 2016 Golden Globe hosting gig, and perhaps used that pre-emptive sorry as currency while joking about Caitlyn Jenner in his opening monologue.

As you can see in the video above, the comedian was as offensive as possible when speaking about Jenner's transition.

In other words, he went there.

Joking about his return to the Golden Globe stage, Gervais said that he's "changed" but "not as much as Bruce Jenner obviously, now Caitlyn Jenner, of course."

"She became a role model," said Gervais.

Soon after, he poked fun at her involvement in a fatal car crash, adding, "She didn't do a lot for women drivers, but you can't have everything."

"Not at the same time."

Jenner settled the lawsuit with a woman involved in the crash in December, after rear-ending Kim Howe last February.

The three-time Golden Globe winner also took aim at Ben Affleck, Mel Gibson, the Catholic Church and NBC, the telecast's broadcaster.
