Duncan Jones Twitter: David Bowie's Son Pays Beautiful Tribute To His Dad

The music legend passed away on Sunday at age 69.

On Sunday, music legend David Bowie passed away at age 69. Shortly after the news was released, Bowie’s son, 44-year-old film director Duncan Jones, took to Twitter to share a heartbreaking throwback photo.

The black and white image of Bowie with his son on his shoulders was accompanied with a simple tweet: "Very sorry and sad to say it's true. I'll be offline for a while. Love to all."

In a 2011 interview with The Daily Mail, Jones revealed that he had a close relationship with his father. The film director referred to Bowie as a “wonderful guy and father.”

“He gave me the time and the support to find my feet and the confidence to do what I do,” said Jones who directed the films "Moon" and "Source Code".

Bowie’s Facebook page revealed the singer had battled cancer for 18 months.

Given this timeline, Bowie would have been diagnosed shortly after Duncan's wife, Rodene Ronquillo Jones, was given the all-clear from breast cancer in 2013 after undergoing a double mastectomy.

Bowie had his son with ex-wife Angela Bowie. The late rock legend also had a daughter, Alexandria, with wife Iman. Bowie’s daughter is now 15 years old.
