REGINA — A cabin renovation is in the stars for a lucky Saskatchewan couple who won $5 million on the Lotto 6/49 draw on Jan. 13.
Darrell and Wendy Penner of Hague, Sask., say they will also help out their children.
"It's really kind of funny that we won," said Darrell, in a press release. "We were talking to friends about there being a Saskatchewan winner after the draw, and I said, 'I'm pretty sure I got this,' as a joke!"
"I checked the numbers on the Internet while I was at work," Darrell continued. "I saw that we had matched the numbers, but I didn't believe it so I just went back to work for a little while."
He checked a second time and still wasn't sure so took it to a nearby store, where the win was confirmed.
He says he went to see his wife at her job and share the news, admitting that some happy tears ensued.
