A "Little House on the Prairie" movie is in the works that will bring the TV series which originally aired in the 1970s and 80s to the big screen.

The series which made Melissa Gilbert a child star, was based on the classic children's books by Laura Ingalls Wilder set in the 1880s in the American Midwest.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Rudin is attached to produce, Sean Durkin attached to direct, with Abi Morgan to pen the script.

The original TV series aired on NBC between 1974 and 1983.
