Katie May, Playboy Model And Snapchat Star, Dead At 34

"She was an inspiration and a guiding light to so many people in this world."

Playboy model and Snapchat star Katie May has died at 34 after a stroke.

The "Queen of Snapchat" was taken off life support Thursday after suffering a blockage in her carotid artery, which led to a stroke, according to TMZ.

Her family confirmed the news to E! in a statement.

"It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the passing today of Katie May–mother, daughter, sister, friend, businesswoman, model and social media star–after suffering a catastrophic stroke caused by a blocked carotid artery on Monday," the statement read.

May tweeted last Friday that she had pinched a nerve in her neck.

On Sunday, she tweeted that she was going back to the chiropractor.

She had almost two million followers on Instagram at the time of her death, and a big following on Snapchat.

May leaves behind a seven-year-old daughter, according to E!, and aGoFundMe page was set up for her Thursday. At the time of this writing, it had raised more than US$11,000 of its $100,000 goal.

"Anyone who was lucky enough to know Katie May was truly blessed by her incredible heart, mind and soul," wrote Matthew Katz, who started the campaign.

"She was an inspiration and a guiding light to so many people in this world."

May had also posed for Sports Illustrated and worked with a sports betting app called JetBet.
