Valentine's Day Nail Art Ideas

Valentine's Day is only days away!

Valentine's Day is only days away, and you may be in need of some nail art ideas for the celebration. This mix-and-match design can provide some inspiration. Either pick your favourite design and replicate it on all your nails or an accent nail, or mix and match the designs while keeping with the same shades of pink, red and white.

For the polka dot design, start with a white base and allow it to dry. Take a shade of pink and a shade of red, and place some on aluminium foil. Using a larger dotting tool, create the line of dots down the centre of the nail, alternating the colours. Create another line of dots just to the left of the centre line, but staggering the colours. Repeat on the right side of the centre line. To complete the pattern, create partial dots along the edge of the nail. Clean up any polish on your skin with acetone and a small flat paintbrush.

For the leopard print design, start with a light pink base and allow it to dry. Take a glittery pink polish and create random shapes on the nail using a dotting tool. Next, use the same dotting tool and a red polish to create the lines around the glitter shapes. Add a few smaller shapes with the red polish to fill in the empty spaces.

For the tiny hearts design, start with a light pink base and allow it to dry. Using a smaller dotting tool, take a white or pink polish and create two dots side by side. Taking that dotting tool or a small nail art brush, pull down some of the polish from the two dots to form the point of the heart. Fill most of the nail with lots of mini hearts in the two colours.

For the glitter heart design, start with a white base and allow it to dry. Use a small nail art brush to create a large heart with a red glitter polish. Do a few coats for the heart so that it is fully opaque. You can also draw a heart with just red polish, and then apply a red glitter polish over top.

Allow the designs to dry for about 10 minutes, and then apply a topcoat so that they can last until Valentine's Day.

Polishes Used: CND Vinylux Be Demure, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, OPI Amore at the Grand Canal, OPI Spoken from the Heart, OPI Starry-Eyed for Dear Daniel, and Misslyn Heart-stopping.
