OK Go's Zero Gravity Video For 'Upside Down & Inside Out' Is Astonishing

Next stop, outer space!

OK Go are true innovators as music video producers go.

The alt-rock group has released videos that show band members traversing treadmills and singing with the Muppets to spectacular effect.

But they've outdone themselves with the video for "Upside Down & Inside Out," which they filmed in a zero-gravity airplane.

OK Go - Upside Down & Inside Out

Hello, Dear Ones. Please enjoy our new video for "Upside Down & Inside Out". A million thanks to S7 Airlines. #GravitysJustAHabit

The video was released exclusively on the band's Facebook account, where it had racked up over 8 million views as of Thursday afternoon.

It shows them floating through an airplane cabin, passing items to each other such as laptops and tablets.

One sequence depicts them opening suitcases and releasing dozens of colourful balls into the cabin.

And just wait until you see the piñatas!

Shooting the video was a complicated venture that required them to pull off the weightless effects in 27-second increments — the maximum time that the plane could descend in zero gravity, according to the band's website.

The plane would then take five minutes to ascend so that it would allow for weightlessness once more.

OK Go shot it using eight weightless periods, then edited the video to skip ahead in time.

The result is a major step up from even incredible videos like "Here It Goes Again":

And "I Won't Let You Down."

And that's saying something.
