Bunmi Laditan Facebook: This 'Organic' Dinner Post Will Make You Laugh Out Loud

Parenting truths at their finest.

With the rise of social media, there’s more pressure than ever for parents to appear perfect. To oppose this idea, mom and parenting author Bunmi Laditan (also known as Honest Toddler) posted of a photo of her toddler’s chicken dinner to Facebook and accompanied it with a hilariously perfect caption.

Dinner is served! The chicken nuggets are organic, free-range, rescue chickens who communicated to me in chicken...

In her post, Laditan explained that “the chicken nuggets are organic, free-range, rescue chickens who communicated to me in chicken language that they wanted to die to nourish my children.”

Not only that, but the mom went above and beyond to prepare the meal for her son. “The box was a craft I did with my children this afternoon while I was being mindful with them in our television-free living room,” she sarcastically wrote. “Those aren't grease stains on the box, they are tears of joy from my toddler. He's so thankful for every meal.”

“It's such a hard gig, being a mom. I just want people to read my work to feel understood and like they're enough.”

Laditan's post is hitting back at the idea that each meal a child eats must be healthy. According to Redbook, the mom posted the photo to let other parents know that they shouldn’t be so hard on themselves.

“We all know chicken nuggets and fries isn't the best meal, but we have to give ourselves a break,” she said. “I cook most nights but decided to treat the kids after an exhausting day. I was feeling terribly guilty that they weren't eating organic quinoa and then I thought... stop!”

In just a few days, the cheeky Facebook post went viral, with over 100,000 likes and 85,000 shares. In the comments, Laditan continued the joke when responding to users’ questions and comments.

Despite the tongue-in-cheek comments, Laditan admitted to Today.com that she constantly struggles with insecurities as a mom. As a result, she posts funny remarks to help her cope.

“It's such a hard gig, being a mom. I just want people to read my work to feel understood and like they're enough,” she explained. “I want them to laugh. I guess deep down, that's what I want for myself. My posts help me find community with other moms.”
