Calgary police have released CCTV footage in hopes of identifying suspects behind a string of hateful graffiti around the city.
On Feb. 14, a passerby spotted anti-Syrian and anti-Trudeau graffiti on Wilma Hansen Junior High School in southeast Calgary.
The graffiti read "Syrians go home and die" and "kill the traitor Trudeau.''
On Feb. 18, windows were broken and similar graffiti tags were left on the walls of Haultain Memorial Elementary School, just a few blocks from Wilma Hansen.
The same night, the Queensland Community Association and Rink, a nearby trailer and a storage container were also hit by yellow graffiti. Windows were also smashed at Wilma Hansen.
In the following two days, more anti-Syrian and anti-Trudeau graffiti appeared on Wilma Hansen School's walls.
Calgary police released footage of the first incident, showing an individual wearing dark clothes, holding a bag and running away from the school.
"The Calgary Police Service takes the anti-Syrian and anti-Trudeau references seriously and is investigating accordingly," read a statement released by police Friday.
Police say they have stepped up patrols in the area since the incidents.
