We're only a third of the way through 2016, but Nameberry has already announced the top trending baby names of the year so far! The list consists of classic picks, along with more unusual choices that are surprisingly good.

The baby name site based their data on the monikers that drew the most traffic. Specifically, Nameberry creator Pamela Redmond Satran said the results were "based on the most-visited of the nearly 20 million views of our individual name pages in the first three months of this year."

Based on these trends, Olivia is number one for girls, bumping last year's top name, Charlotte, down to number three after Amelia. This isn't surprising considering Olivia is a top name in multiple countries, including the U.S., Britain, Australia and New Zealand. Olivia has also been the second most popular baby name in Canada for the past two years.

Charlotte, on the other hand, got its boost in popularity thanks to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who chose this moniker for their little princess in 2015. Since then, the name has remained in the top 10 in the U.S. and Canada.

As for boys, the unique name Ezra is number one for a second year in a row. Ezra is appealing for two reasons: it's a refreshing biblical name and has a unique sound. According to U.S. social security data, Ezra has been steadily increasing in popularity since the early 2000s. In 2014, the name ranked at number 119 for boys.

Asher and Atticus round off the top three trending names, according to Nameberry. Asher is another biblical choice, whereas Atticus is a literary name that regained popularity thanks to Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird" and "Go Set A Watchman," which was released in 2015.

Interestingly, many of the boys' names on the top 10 list this year are the same as 2015. Only two new names entered Nameberry's most popular of the year so far: Levi and Wyatt.

The rise of these names, which replaced Jude and Jasper from 2015, could possibly be due to celebrities who chose these monikers for their kids. Matthew McConaughey chose Levi for his son in 2008, while Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher chose Wyatt for their daughter in 2014.

Nameberry also looked at the furthest-rising baby names of 2016 so far, which also revealed some interesting picks. For girls, Astrid, Sadie and Elise all moved up over 45 spots, and for boys, John, Aryan and Tobias all moved up more than 40 spots.
