Turns Out, You Can Use Your Straightener To Make Popcorn

Though we wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

Turns out your flat iron can do a lot more than just style your hair.

A Japanese Twitter user has discovered that a straightener can also be used to pop popcorn.

See for yourself:

Now we're not exactly sure what sparked the idea to try this out, but we have to say it's pretty cool.

And we aren't the only ones who think so. Cosmopolitan.com's beauty editors decided they would try it out for themselves (you can watch it all go down below):

"Basically, I had to try this out after seeing this Twitter user (below) written up on BuzzFeed and Delish. So, Cosmopolitan.com's associate beauty editor Brooke Shunatona and I put it to the test," writes Cosmopolitan.com's beauty editor Carly Cardellino. "Results? IT TOTALLY WORKED and it was an exhilarating experience! LOL, but seriously."

As for the taste? Well, we're not sure at this point. The Twitter user told Buzzfeed, "I didn’t eat it so I don’t know if it tasted good, but it was insanely stiff."

Good to know!

So if you want to try it at home, make sure to set your straightener to the highest setting to ensure the trick will work.

Personally, however, we'll stick to using it as a hair styling tool. Beachy waves, anyone?
