A day before Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday, Britain's Royal Mail released a gorgeous photo of Her Majesty, her son, her grandson and her great grandson, Prince George, who clearly stole the spotlight.
In the photo, three of the four generations of royals are seated, but the youngest, two-year-old Prince George, is perched on top of what appears to be foam blocks as he holds his dad's hand. His big grin shines in the photo.
The royals released the photo on Wednesday on social media. The photo was accompanied with the following statement on Facebook: "Today, the Royal Mail celebrates The Queen's 90th birthday with the release of a photograph featuring four generations of the Royal Family. The image will appear on a special commemorative Stamp Sheet."
It went on to explain: "The Royal Mail celebrates its own special birthday this year: its 500th anniversary. The Queen will mark the anniversary with a visit to the Royal Mail Windsor delivery office this morning, the first of this year's 90th birthday events."
“He was absolutely charming, as you can see from the picture," Ranald Mackechnie, the photographer who took the picture told The Telegraph. "You only have a short window of opportunity with small children, but Prince George was on good form and everyone seemed to enjoy seeing him enjoy the day.
“He was fascinated by my lights and all the kit, and he was quite happy standing on the blocks. I took maybe 80 or 100 shots, but when I saw this one I knew straight away that was it.”
The Queen and Prince Philip did indeed visit the Royal Mail in Windsor on Tuesday. The office has been renamed the Queen Elizabeth Delivery Office in her honour.
The four-generations photo won't be the only stamp in the Queen's honour. Here are some other stamps that will also appear on British mail.
