Canadians Winnie Harlow, The Weeknd Shine In Beyoncé's New Album 'Lemonade'

Posted: Updated:

Beyoncé's long-awaited album, "Lemonade" has arrived, and a couple of Canadians lent a hand squeezing the fruit.

Toronto native The Weeknd lent his vocals on the scathing track, "6 Inch," that came up during the "Emptiness" chapter of Beyoncé's HBO special and visual album.

The hour-long project, released on Saturday, addresses jealously, infidelity, reconciliation, recovery from betrayal, and black women asserting themselves. The latter two shine through on "6 Inch."

The Weeknd didn't appear in the video, but his falsetto was unmistakable, underscoring Bey's defiant and affirming track: "Stacking money, money everywhere she goes."

The R&B artist has been rising quickly over the last year, earning two Grammys and five Juno Awards for work on his latest album, "Beauty Behind the Madness."

Beyoncé and The Weeknd have been in the same orbit of late, with the Canadian star headlining her husband Jay-Z's Made in America festival in 2015, but this is the first time they have collaborated on a song.

On top of the Weeknd, Toronto-born model Winnie Harlow was seen in a promotional video ahead of "Lemonade's" release, and sure enough, she was featured.

The 21-year-old made a cameo alongside a legion of famous, young black women, including Amandla Stenberg, Zendaya Coleman and Quvenzhané Wallis.

Harlow and the other young women dressed in antebellum garments for the song "Freedom," featuring Kendrick Lamar.

The triumphant track opens with a poem written by Warsan Shire, talking about giving birth to daughters, and shows the women participating in a serene celebration on a property in the southern marsh.
