“Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek has an important message to kids about stupid people.
On Tuesday, the Canadian TV personality stopped by Ottawa’s Roberta Bondar Public School to help host a geography quiz. While there, one student asked him if he liked his job as “Jeopardy” host, which he’s been doing for over 30 years.
“I love what I do and I’ll tell you why,” he said. “Because I get to appear on a stage everyday with really bright people. I hate spending time with stupid people, because stupid people quite often are prejudiced people. They don’t know enough to make sound decisions regarding life or how to treat their fellow man.”

Trebek also offered the kids solid advice about how to be happy: “The most important thing is you finding something you’re good at and something you enjoy doing. And if you have those two things going for you, you’re going to be happy in your life.”
According to Ottawa Community News, the kids at the Greenboro-based school were excited to meet Trebek and participate in the geography quiz he hosted at their school. Ali Khaled, a Grade 8 participant, described the experience as “unreal.”
Trebek is currently in Ottawa attending several events. Earlier this week, he was named the honourary president of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society and on Thursday, he will be presented a Key to the City of Ottawa by Mayor Jim Watson.

The 75-year-old host will be honoured with a Key to the City of Ottawa “for his philanthropy and activism, his unrelenting commitment to higher education, and his steadfast loyalty to his alma mater, the University of Ottawa.”
