Katherine Heigl has some exciting news! The former “Grey's Anatomy” star is pregnant with her third child. She and her husband, musician Josh Kelley, are expecting a baby boy in January, People reports.
Heigl is already a mother of two, but this is her first pregnancy. The 37-year-old actress and her hubby of eight years adopted both their daughters: Naleigh, 7, and Adalaide, 4.
The actress told People that their kids are thrilled they are getting a baby brother: “Naleigh and Adalaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude.”
Heigl has always been open about wanting to adopt before having biological kids. “Adoption has been a part of my life and a part of my family, so it was how I wanted to start,” the actress told Us Weekly in 2010.
In 2009, the “State of Affairs” star adopted her first child, Naleigh. Naleigh's unique moniker is actually a nickname. Heigl and Kelley originally named their daughter Nancy Leigh after the actress’ mother, Nancy, and sister, Margaret Leigh.
Three years after welcoming their daughter into their family, the couple adopted their second child, Adalaide Marie Hope, from Louisiana.
Their second daughter’s name was also a meaningful choice. “Adalaide because of my great-grandmother, Marie after my middle name, and Hope because that is what the process became,” Heigl said in 2012.
Now that the couple has a baby boy on the way, they couldn’t be more thrilled. “This is an incredibly exciting time for us filled with hope, anticipation and hormones,” Heigl told People. “Well, only I’m filled with hormones, but everyone in the family gets to enjoy them.”
We can’t wait to meet Heigl’s baby boy! Congrats to the actress and her family.
