25 Photos Of Toronto Pride Show The Progress Made In LGBT History

Toronto Pride has come so far!

Editor's Note: Happy Pride! We originally published this in 2016 and we've updated the post for this year's Pride celebrations.

It's a year of firsts for Pride Toronto. June has been officially recognized as the first Pride Month in Toronto while 2016 marks the first time the Pride flag has flown on Parliament Hill, as well as the first time the transgender flag has been raised near Toronto's City Hall at Queen and Bay streets.

These new beginnings show how far Pride Toronto has evolved from its origins, where marching meant taking to the streets to protest arrests made in bathhouse raids. Now an annual celebration, these 25 photos show how Toronto's queer communities have transformed Pride from then to now.
