Janelle Monáe Shows Off Bare Butt Cheeks During Prince Tribute At BET Awards

An ode to one of Prince's cheekiest looks.

When it came to honouring Prince at the BET Awards on Sunday night, both Janelle Monáe and Anthony Anderson weren't afraid to get a little cheeky with their tributes.

Nearly two months after the tragic passing of the legendary performer, a star-studded line-up of R&B performers, including Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder, the Roots and Sheila E., came together at the awards to pay their respects to the "Purple Rain" singer.

One artist who took on Prince's "genre-bending fearlessness and flamboyant sartorial choices," as described by People, was none other than Janelle Monáe. The 30-year-old artist decided to channel Prince's 1991 MTV Video Awards ensemble, where he wore a pair of butt-bearing pants.

Belting out "Kiss," Monáe paired the cheeky, ruffled white lace look with a white crop-top.

As for her red carpet look, the "Tightrope" songstress dawned a black and white striped sequin jumpsuit from Sass & Bride. Flaunting purple jewelry in honour of Prince, along with hoop earrings and a bold red lip, Janelle topped off her ever-so-cool BET ensemble with a wide-brimmed hat.

And Janelle wasn't the only one to shake her derrière in honour of Prince — host Anthony Anderson wasn't afraid to bare it all (or in this case, shake it all) either.
