Our home and native land turns 149 years young on Friday, and she doesn't look a day over 100.

The federal holiday celebrates the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the Constitution Act, which united three colonies into a single country.

Celebrations traditionally include fireworks, parades, barbecues, festivals and concerts, as well as citizenship ceremonies for new citizens.
