A Canadian woman who was sexually assaulted in the streets of London is being hailed a hero on the Internet after she confronted her alleged attacker.
A Canadian expat named Azmina working in the U.K., said she was walking down the street with her boyfriend in the British capital when a man passed her and punched her in the vagina.
In a public Facebook post, she said that after her initial shock passed, she yelled at the man, telling him he had sexually assaulted her.
Azmina, who asked that her last name be withheld, said the man swore at her and kept shaking his fists at her boyfriend, while she attempted to call police. As he walked away, she and her boyfriend followed him from a safe distance. When he finally told her to leave him alone, she didn't mince words.
"I blew up and told him that he has no right to say that to me after grabbing my vagina in the middle of a street simply because he felt like he was entitled to my body," she wrote in her Facebook post.
When the man realized she was standing up for herself and was in the process of calling the police, he began to apologize.
"What I've done is totally unacceptable... I really am sorry," he says in the video. After she asks him what he's sorry for, he says, "For punching you in the crotch."
Azmina said she shot the video to share the message that sexual harassment is never OK.
"I don’t care if you find me attractive and you just had 10 jager bombs, you do not get to act upon whatever entitled feelings our society has convinced you that you have over me because you are a man and I am a woman. And if you act upon those entitled feelings, there will be consequences."
