An Ontario father died in hospital after an "altercation" in a parking lot over the weekend.
Corby Stott, a 29-year-old dad to two boys, was hit by a vehicle in the Walmart plaza in Midland, Ont. on Saturday, according to the Midland Mirror.
Police told the local paper Stott was, at one point, on the hood of a vehicle before he "came off" of it.
He died at Georgian Bay General Hospital.
Jason Heffernan, 25, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, according to Orillia Packet and Times.
The Ontario Provincial Police's Det.-Insp. Martin Graham told the London Free Press the two men did not know each other when the fight broke out.
'Corby was a great father'
Norah Delong, who says she knew Stott for a few years, told the Mirror that he was "super involved" in his children's lives.
"When I heard the news I was shocked, because he was the last person you’d expect something like that to happen to,” she said. “He’s such a nice guy, you’d never imagine him in this situation.”
A crowdfunding page on GoFundMe has been set up to raise money for Stott's boys post-secondary education.
"Corby was a great father, but now it is time for us to take up care of these boys, but also make sure they remember what a great guy their father was," the page reads.
