Barack Obama Daughters: U.S. President Proves Yet Again He Adores Embarrassing His Kids

And he's a pretty bad singer, too.

When 5,000 people gather on your lawn for Fourth of July celebrations, which dad could resist embarrassing his teen daughter? Certainly not Barack Obama.

Malia Obama, who just turned 18, shares her birthday with the country she lives in. So, after an inspiring speech about their great nation, equality and social responsibility, her dear old dad had one last request.

"And just because it's a job of a father to embarrass his daughters, I've got one last job," said the President. "It just so happens that we celebrate our country's birthday on the same day that we celebrate my oldest daughter's birthday." Then he asked everyone to join in and sing "Happy Birthday" to Malia.

Turns out, Obama is a pretty terrible singer. Thankfully, he had Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe with him on stage to help out.

Of course, Malia is used to her dad's loving public embarrassments. She and her younger sister, Sasha, have cringed at Obama's terrible dad jokes and general goofiness. So she didn't look all that upset when she got on stage and gave him a big hug.

The recent high school grad has a big year ahead. She is taking a gap year before attending Harvard.

No wonder her dad is all sentimental.
