CALGARY — The Calgary Zoo is sending their aquarium water out for toxicology testing after 200 fish died this week.
Spokeswoman Trish Exton-Parder says they are working to find out the cause of death.
She says it doesn't appear to be a system failure, but rather some kind of contamination that got into the water.
Exton-Parder says most of the adult fish in the lower tanks in the TransAlta Rainforest have passed away.
But she says it won't take long for the population to recuperate as they are a common type of aquarium fish.
The Calgary Zoo noticed something was wrong on Friday when they lost a significant amount of fish, but since Saturday no other fish have died.
