Kristen Stewart Admits She's 'Really In Love' With Girlfriend Alicia Cargile

"Finally, I can feel again."

Kristen Stewart has found love.

In a new interview with Elle U.K., the "Cafe Society" actress confirms for the first time she's dating girlfriend, Alicia Cargile, and hasn't been happier.

"Right now I'm just really in love with my girlfriend," Stewart says. "We've broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, 'Finally, I can feel again.'"

The couple, who've been dating on and off since 2015, recently reunited again at this year's Cannes Film Festival in France, after Stewart ended her relationship with singer Soko.

Although the couple has been spotted holding hands and kissing in the past, neither has commented publicly on their relationship until this interview.

"When I was dating a guy I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialized, so I didn't like it," Stewart says. "We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, 'That's mine. You're making my relationship something that it's not.' I didn't like that. But then it changed when I started dating a girl. I was like, 'Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I'm not down with it or I'm ashamed of it, so I had to alter how I approached being in public. It opened my life up and I'm so much happier."

Although she doesn't mention him by name, we can assume the 26-year-old actress is referring to former "Twilight" co-star and ex-boyfriend, Robert Pattinson. The couple dated for more than three years before calling it quits in 2013. Even though they were in one of the most high-profile relationships in Hollywood, the former couple refused to talk about their private lives.

In May, the "Equals" star told Variety that she wasn't "hiding shit" about her love life and added, "When I was dating a guy, I would never talk about my relationships. I feel the same way now."

She also admitted to Variety that while she doesn't like the paparazzi, she doesn't mind if photos of her and a girlfriend are published because she wants her young fans to see them.

"That's really important to me," she said. "As much as I want to protect myself, it's not about hiding. As soon as you start throwing up so many walls, you cannot see over them yourself, so you just start isolating in a way that's not honest. I definitely found where I'm comfortable. I don't take credit for that."
