Sprinter Andre De Grasse showed that he could run with the fastest men in the world on the biggest stage. De Grasse took home the bronze on a historic night that saw Usain Bolt defend his 100m sprint title for the third consecutive Olympics.

Canadian women continue their strong showing at the Rio Games.
On Saturday, Canada's women's track cycling team beat out New Zealand for a bronze in the team pursuit.
Brianne Theisen-Eaton won Canada's first medal at track and field with a bronze in the heptathlon.
On Friday, Rosie MacLennan successfully defended her Olympic title and won gold in the trampoline.
Hilary Caldwell added a bronze in the 200-metre backstroke to Canada's medal haul in the pool.

Penny Oleksiak has won Canada's first gold and seventh medal of the Rio Olympic Games. Oleksiak also sets a Canadian record as the first Olympian to win four medals in one Olympic Games.

Canada has won its sixth medal and its fourth in swimming. Anchored by Penny Oleksiak, Canada won a bronze in the women's 4 x 200m relay.

Ontario's Kylie Masse continues Canada's success in the pool. The swimmer nabbed a bronze in the 100m backstroke for Canada's fourth medal.
Canada's Women's Rugby Sevens team has won bronze in a dominant 33-10 victory over Team Great Britain.
UPDATE Sun. Aug. 7: Toronto teenager Penny Oleksiak has brought home another medal for Canada. The 16-year-old won silver in the women's 100m butterfly.
UPDATE Sun. Aug. 7: Canada won its first medal of the Rio Games late on Saturday night, a bronze in the women's 4 x 100m freestyle relay.

Canada will be looking for podium finishes from a mix of proven veterans and rising stars at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Led by gymnast and Olympic gold medalist Rosie MacLennan the team will look to be in the top 12 in the medal standings by the end of these Games. Experts have Canadians bringing home anywhere from 15 to 21 medals.
Unlike previous Olympics where Canada has been quiet at the track, Canada has medal contenders in Andre De Grasse, Derek Drouin and Melissa Bishop, to name just a few. Canada's female athletes could also be the key to Olympic success with golfer Brooke Henderson, the Women's Rugby Sevens team and Canada's women track cycling team all gunning for a podium finish.
