A Calgary man accused of killing his wife is set to begin his preliminary hearing on Monday.

Joshua Burgess is charged with second-degree murder in the death of actress Shannon Burgess.

Burgess' body was found at her home in Ramsay last summer after she was reported missing in November 2014.

Police had done a "cursory search" of the home after she disappeared, but later found her body concealed on the property.

At the time, Joshua was still living at the home where her body was found.

Shannon was an alumni of the Calgary Stampede Show Band, as well as a voice, theatre and film actor according to her obituary. She loved improv and stand-up comedy.

The preliminary hearing is expected to last just under two weeks.
