If you live in Ontario, at some point you've either sipped or envisioned yourself sipping a glass of wine in the province's Niagara region.

From Niagara-on-the-Lake to St. Catharines to the town of Lincoln, the region offers acres and acres of more than 85 wineries and tasting tours that go with them.

Jillian Nero of travel agency Niagara Canada says the company is campaigning for the region to be named the 8th Wonder of the World.

"[Wineries] that call Niagara home are one of the many experiences that make Niagara so memorable," she tells Huffington Post Canada.

And because wine flavours and tastes are quite subjective (seriously, most people can't taste the same flavours), it's also important to look at the overall atmosphere of the winery before choosing one. Many of the wineries listed below have restaurants on site, as well as events and festivals during summer months.

And with back and forth studies of the health benefits of red wine in particular — some studies say drinking wine could boost metabolism, while others argue red wine is not a "magic pill," — like anything, it's all about moderation.

Below are 14 wineries in the Niagara region perfect for every type of getaway: From a lazy girls' weekend to an iconic wine experience to even an intimate tasting for two, these vineyards will make you want to book an extra few nights in the region. Let us know, what are your favourite Niagara wine tours?
