Brad Pitt Child Abuse Allegations Reportedly Under Investigation

Reports have surfaced that an incident involving physical and verbal abuse sparked the divorce.

UPDATE: On Thursday, the LAPD released the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing. To my knowledge, [Pitt talking to police] never happened. And right now, that is where our office is. We are not investigating any case, nor do we have any allegations against Mr. Pitt. We understand how rumors get spun up, and hopefully we can put a few of them to rest. We have no investigation involving Mr. Pitt.”

TMZ's follow-up story reports that the child abuse investigation has been turned over to the FBI since the incident occurred in the air.

Brad Pitt is allegedly under investigation for child abuse, TMZ reports. According to the news site, the 52-year-old actor got “verbally abusive” and “physical” with his and Angelina Jolie’s children after he got drunk on the family’s private plane.

People magazine confirms that the incident occurred last Wednesday and was reported by an anonymous individual on the tarmac. Both the Los Angeles Police Department and L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services are now investigating.

These accusations come just days after Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, her husband of two years. The couple, who has been together since 2004, has six children together: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.

Following the divorce news on Monday, it was reported that the couple split due to conflicts over parenting their children. “They always had disagreements when it came to disciplining the kids,” an insider told People. “With all the kids, it did tend to get chaotic many times.”

Jolie’s lawyer, Robert Offer, also said in a statement that the couple’s decision to divorce “was made for the health of the family.”

Regarding the child abuse investigation, a source close to Pitt revealed to TMZ that he is not taking it lightly.

He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children,” the insider said. “It's unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light.”
