People Like Having Sex In Parked Cars, Study Confirms

The back seat is always popular.

A new study has confirmed something many of us have known for years: people like having sex in cars.

Researchers from the University of South Dakota have indicated (through somewhat of a small sample size of 706 undergrads) that 61 per cent of men and 59.5 per cent of women have had sex in a parked car, Cosmo reports.

“Sex and cars have gone together since the car was invented,” researcher and psychologist Cindy Struckman-Johnson said in a statement.

The study also found 14 per cent of the survey respondents lost their virginity in a car. On top of this, having sex in a car was more likely to end in dating vs. non-car hookups.

Oh and picture this: you and your partner are getting busy in the backseat somewhere in a remote location. Turns out this scenario, which has been featured in many popular films, is also an accurate description of how survey participants had sex.

Respondents revealed 56 per cent of them parked somewhere "in the country" and 63 per cent of them did it in the back seat.

"Despite discomfort, body bumps, and risk of being caught, sex while parked was primarily a positive sexual and romantic experience for both men and women," the study notes.

However, the study reports not all experiences have been positive: 2.5 per cent of men and 4.3 per cent of women reported being "sexually coerced."
