Canada's Best Restroom: Whitecourt Gas Station Bathroom Named To Top 5

Alberta is clearly killing it when it comes to nice places to primp and pee.

Alberta is clearly killing it when it comes to nice places to primp and pee.

Three bathrooms around the province have been nominated in Cintas Canada's Best Restroom contest.

And for a second time, an Alberta gas station bathroom has made the Top 5.

At the Whitecourt Esso gas station — located approximately 180 kilometres northwest of Edmonton — you won't find your typical truck stop squat. These loos are super classy and feature decorative wall tiles and unique, sculptured sinks and counter tops. Decorative sconces and ornate carved mirrors give some added elegance and compliment beautiful mounted lighting.

The Esso is the second Alberta gas station washroom to be nominated for the award. In 2013, the Valleyview Shell Super Station took home the top honour, for its geo-thermal heating and cooling technologies, as well as its solid adler wood stall doors, tiled walls and sparkling Victorian style semi-flush mount chandeliers (yes, seriously.)

Also nominated in this year's group are Sauce Italian Kitchen & Market in Calgary, where no elegant detail has been spared...

And the East Village public washroom in Calgary, with its self-cleaning abilities.

W Montreal in Montreal and Assiniboine Park Lyric Theatre in Winnipeg round out the finalists.

Which throne will take the title? It's sure to be a close race. Online voting for the washrooms concludes Oct. 24.
