The U.S. election is over, but for voters who were left disappointed with the outcome, Ellen DeGeneres has an uplifting message.

On Tuesday, before the polls closed and Donald Trump was declared the next President of the United States, "The Ellen Show" host taped a monologue based on the outcome that the reality TV star would triumph over presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Wearing a shirt that said 'Love', DeGeneres reminded viewers that although the election has divided the country politically, Americans are more alike than they are different.

"People have been very passionate about this race," she said. "And I think it's because we all love our country, we just have different ideas about what's best for it, which is part of what makes America great."

She continued, "And I believe we can all come together because if you take away the labels, you realize we're far more alike than we are different."

Opting to make a lighthearted joke, the "Finding Dory" star explained whether you're a Democrat or a Republican or neither, "we all have that feeling of stepping out of the shower and realizing you left the towel completely across the bathroom, and you have to do that little shimmy on the bath mat all the way across.

"We all do that thing where you're pulling into a parking garage and you duck your head just to make sure you make it. It doesn't matter if you're a liberal or if you're conservative, we've all passed out watching Netflix and woke up not knowing what episode we're on, what season we're on, whose couch we're on," she continued.

Then, in a more serious note, DeGeneres added: "What I'm trying to say is that we have so much in common, our differences actually make us stronger. We need to have the kindness and respect for one another. Here's where I make the exception: the people that leave the shopping carts in the middle of your parking spot. Out of the country. Kick them out of the country. Bring the shopping cart back!"

On Wednesday DeGeneres tweeted a thank you note to Hillary Clinton after the presidential nominee made her concession speech.

She then tweeted a message of hope to her followers.

Ellen isn't the only celebrity to have spoken out about the election results.

"Star Trek" actor George Takei shared words of wisdom about Trump's America, saying rather than give in to despair, Americans should fight and stand up for the country's vulnerable.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling also shared her advice on how to get through the next four years, urging Americans to stand up to bigots.
