The original Gerber baby, Ann Turner Cook, just turned 90!

Cook became the face of Gerber baby products when she was just four months old. In 1927, family friend Dorothy Hope Smith created a rough sketch of the baby girl in charcoal. A year later, when Gerber launched a contest looking for an image for their brand, Smith sent in her drawing and won.

In 1931, the iconic photo of Cook became Gerber’s official trademark.

When Cook grew up, she became an English literature and creative writing teacher in Florida, Inside Edition reports. After she retired, she became a mystery writer. Cook is now known for her Brandy O'Bannon series.

While Gerber has never changed its iconic logo, it has held annual photo contests since 2010 to find new infants to be the company’s spokesbaby. This year, an adorable baby girl named Isla was chosen to represent the company.
