Vaccinating Babies In The Womb Could Become A Reality

But it's causing a concern for pregnant moms.

Vaccinating babies in the womb could become a reality in the U.S. thanks to the 21st Century Cures Act.

Last month, U.S. President Barack Obama signed the bill, which aims to allocate $6.3 billion into health care reform. While the new legislation will help fund medical research and accelerate drug development, the act is causing concern for pregnant moms.

This is because the Senate bill S. 2742, also known as the Promoting Biomedical Research and Public Health for Patients Act, wants to amend the current vaccination schedule to include unborn babies.

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that “no evidence exists of risk to the fetus from vaccinating pregnant women,” some question whether or not vaccines for the unborn will be safe.
