Matt Damon Gives George Clooney His First Piece Of Advice On Fatherhood

"‘Just shut up, man.’"

While we only found out yesterday that George and Amal Clooney are expecting twins, actor Matt Damon has known about it long before anyone else.

“I was working with [George] last fall and he pulled me aside on set and I mean, I almost started crying. I was so happy for him,” Damon revealed to Entertainment Tonight Canada. “And I was like, ‘How far along is she?’ And he goes, ‘Eight weeks.’”

"The Great Wall" star, who is a father of four, admitted he then prompted Clooney to stop talking about it. “‘Are you out of your mind?! Don’t tell anybody else! Don’t tell anybody else! Don’t you know the 12-week rule?’ Like of course he doesn’t,” he said. “‘Just shut up, man,’" he continued.

"Four weeks later, I’m like, ‘We’re good right?’” Clooney answered, “We’re good.”

Damon and Clooney became close friends on the set of "Ocean's Eleven" and have starred in numerous films together since then. So unsurprisingly, Damon was pretty excited to learn about his friend's news. "I’m thrilled for him. [Amal]’s amazing. He hit the jackpot. Just on every level. She is a remarkable woman. They’re gonna be great. They’re gonna be awesome parents. Those kids are lucky,” he said.

Though the Clooneys have not commented on the pregnancy, Julie Chen, who broke the news, says the twins are due in June.

The Clooneys married in Venice, Italy, on September 27, 2014 in a lavish ceremony in front of friends and family. The twins will be the first kids for both George and Amal.
